Seconds after Lucas Bergvall's 86th-minute goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, substitute Alexander-Arnold was involved in a fleeting spat with a Spurs ball boy. The England international attempted to restart play by getting a ball placed on a cone just off the pitch – but the ball boy removed it. The 26-year-old then kicked the cone away, exchanged words with the youngster, and held up six fingers in an apparent reference to Liverpool's 6-3 Premier League win at Tottenham last month.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Spurs took an important lead going into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Liverpool may still be favourites to progress to the final, given they are flying high in all competitions this season, but Ange Postecoglou's team hold a slender advantage ahead of next month's trip to Anfield.
