Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that Fernando Llorente is the perfect striker to complement Harry Kane at the London club.
Spurs signed Llorente from Swansea City in the summer, and the 32-year-old has already made eight appearances during the 2017-18 campaign.
The striker is yet to get off the mark in terms of goals, but is expected to be given another opportunity in Wednesday’s fourth-round EFL Cup fixture against West Ham United.
Pochettino has admitted that bringing a striker to Spurs is difficult due to the presence of star man Kane, but the Argentine has lavished praise on Llorente for providing the perfect competition.
Pochettino told Sky Sports:
“It is important to analyse; we have Harry Kane in the last few years, and it is not easy to find the profile that can compete with him.
“And it is not easy on the market to find a player that wants to come and compete with Harry. The world recognises him as one of the best strikers in the world. That is why Llorente is the perfect fit for us.”
Llorente scored 15 Premier League goals for Swansea last season as he helped the Welsh outfit avoid the drop.
Chelsea were believed to be interested in signing the experienced forward during the summer, but Tottenham pounced late in the window to secure the deal.
