West Bromwich Albion began their pre-season tour of the United States on Tuesday, and with only three minutes played of their opening game against San Jose Earthquakes, Roy Hodgson saw his side concede one of the freakiest goals he will have ever witnessed. Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham scored with a hopeful punt from the edge of his own penalty area, the ball bouncing once before looping over the helpless Boaz Myhill.
The bizarre nature of this goal has led me to compile a top ten of the freakiest goals ever to be scored. Whilst many will often cite the Stan Collymore goal that hit a pivot before bouncing over Tim Flowers, or any one of the various goalkeeping blunders that England fans have become accustomed to, I have chosen ten goals (in no particular order) in which the groundsman may not be held responsible, but where the nature of the goal itself is genuinely hard to believe.
