BBC Radio pundit Noel Whelan has made a bold transfer prediction on Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers when speaking to Football Insider.
What’s he said, then?
Having chased him in January, the former Leeds United striker fancies Wolves to table a fresh offer for young Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham in the summer transfer window.
The Midlands club wanted the 21-year-old in the last window before settling on a loan transfer for the rest of the season that fell through at the last minute – Abraham deciding to stay at Aston Villa where he is due to remain for the rest of 2018/2019.
When asked about the possible deal by Football Insider, here’s what Whelan had to say:
“I’m pretty sure Wolves will come in with a new bid, Nuno is a big admirer of him and has been tracking him for some time.
“There will be plenty of clubs in for him, though, from the Premier League and across Europe. Tammy Abraham is a top quality striker who is only going to get better.
“He is easily good enough to play at the highest level, and whoever gets him is going to get a great deal.”
Bold prediction makes perfect sense
This prediction from the 44-year-old is a bold one but it’s also one that makes perfect sense based on the squad that Nuno has at Molineux.
They possess a real shortage of out-and-out strikers with Raul Jimenez the only genuine number nine and Diogo Jota doing his best to fill in as a centre-forward this campaign, so they really do need more at the end of the term, especially if European football is achieved.

And Whelan is absolutely right in saying that the 25-goal Abraham deserves permanent Premier League football, therefore it would be no surprise if Nuno truly does want to be the one to provide the England youth international with it.
