Dovbyk's move to Italy hasn't panned out as Roma had anticipated when they paid €38.5 million (£34m/$45m) for the striker last year. The Italian club now want to offload the player as he is no longer in their plans. Leeds have remained interested in the Ukrainian striker this summer and have also sent their representatives to scout him during Roma's friendly against Everton, according to . The newly promoted side were interested in Rodrigo Muniz but shelved those plans after Fulham set a price tag of €47m (£41m/$55m) on the forward.

Roma are reportedly willing to offload Dovbyk for €32m (£28m/$37m) as they plan to launch a bid for Lecce's Nikola Krstovic. Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been a longtime admirer of the striker and wants to use the funds from the sale of Dovbyk to clinch his signing. Lecce are reportedly willing to part ways with the Montenegrin forward for a deal around €30m (£26m/$35m).

Krstovic was Leeds' top striker target this summer, and the club had also registered a bid of around €23m (£20m/$27m) plus bonuses for him, but the bid was declined by Krstovic, as he preferred to join a more ambitious club. Roma are also looking to bolster their frontline, as they wish to sign Midtjylland midfielder Franculino Dju. The ex-Benfica player has been a prominent part of the Danish team and has already scored six goals in three games in the Superliga this season.
