Talks between Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and Tottenham are heating up and a deal is all but signed, but just how good is he?
After stating last month that he would put his future on hold till after the Confederations Cup, Paulinho is expected to make a £17million move to Tottenham after revealing he would be leaving Corinthians.
The 24-year-old has shown continuous improvement over the years in his stints with Brazilian clubs Pao de Accuar, Bragantino and his current side.
Since 2008, he has scored 34 goals in 167 appearances and in last month’s Confederations Cup, Paulinho contributed to Brazil’s lifting of the trophy – scoring twice against Japan and Uruguay.
Tottenham fans are over the moon at the chance of the gifted Brazilian playing in the Premier League this season, so much so, that they have already penned a song to herald his arrival on the terraces.
Despite leaving Corinthians after three seasons, the Brazilian could not thank the team enough for the chance to play and promised he’d be back.
“What I have to say to Corinthians fans, board and staff is ‘see you soon’ – I will be back in no time, due to everything they have done for me,” he said.
“My individual titles are all thanks to the club, Corinthians will be in my heart for the rest of my life.”
Even though he expressed his affection for Corinthians, Tottenham fans should be very excited about the addition of Paulinho, but if they’re in any doubt, here’s a highlight reel of the box-to-box dynamo.
